No Departamento de Filosofia da Universidade de Dublin podemos encontrar a seguinte disciplina: Applied Philosophy: "Philosophical Debates on Life and Death" (Filosofia Aplicada: Debates Filosóficos sobre Vida e Morte).
O professor desta disciplina é: Jurgen De Wispelaere.
Apresentamos-lhe aqui o resumo da disciplina:

"This part of the course will offer students an introduction in the vexed philosophical debates surrounding death and dying, on the one hand, and saving and improving lives, on the other hand. Life and death issues are often deceptively simple, but turn out to pose some of the most intriguing philosophical questions in the field of applied ethics. The purpose of the course is twofold. First, through the examination of practical examples and controversies students will learn to appreciate the nature and method of applied philosophy as a distinctive field of philosophical inquiry. Second, students are introduced to some of the most controversial debates in the field of contemporary applied philosophy, and invited to carefully examine their views on these issues. Topics include suicide and euthanasia, abortion and infanticide, self-defence and capital punishment, terrorism, organ donation, amongst others."
